Metro Booming Training Academy Launches Workforce Initiative
Metro Booming Training Academy (MBTA) is proud to announce the MetroTech S.M.A.R.T. Pathways Workforce Initiative, a new workforce development program designed to prepare residents in Jackson, Mississippi and surrounding counties for high-demand technical careers.
The S.M.A.R.T. Pathways program — Skilled, Mobile, Advanced, Resilient & Technical Careers — will provide hands-on, certification-based training in HVAC, electrical, energy auditing, code enforcement, facility maintenance, and smart technology. The program is designed to help address regional workforce shortages, underemployment, and skills gaps while creating clear pathways to stable, well-paying careers.
Participants in the program will complete core training in HVAC or Electrical systems, earn industry-recognized credentials such as OSHA 10 and the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate, and then advance into specialized bootcamps aligned with their career pathway. The program will also include life skills training, career coaching, and opportunities for apprenticeships with industry partners.
Over the next 18 months, MBTA plans to train at least 80 individuals, help participants earn industry credentials, and support job placement and career advancement opportunities throughout the region.
The MetroTech S.M.A.R.T. Pathways initiative represents a major step forward in expanding workforce training opportunities, strengthening employer talent pipelines, and improving economic opportunity across Mississippi’s Delta Regional Authority service area.

We certify mechanics from Mississippi Job Corps Centers and surrounding areas. We utilize the ASE curriculum which is national-recognized, competency based, standardized training curriculum giving industry leading credentials for a highly skilled workforce within Mississippi.
ADVANCED TRAINING FACILITIES
METRO BOOMING TRAINING ACADEMY, INC.’s 20,000 square ft. advanced training facility is in the center of Jackson, MS, located on a 10-acre lot with 35,000 square foot of potential warehouse space for redevelopment and 8 bay areas that contain lifts and other top-of-the-line training equipment for superior teaching capabilities.
